The competition in the world of manufacturers is really important to reduce the cost and increase the competitiveness of each player. Not wanting to be left behind by Intel Core i9, AMD decided to release its competitor as AMD Ryzen 9. This system is actually one of the highest end of the entire AMD Ryzen family, arriving in 2019 as the AMD Ryzen 3000 series (codenamed Matisse). Based on the Zen 2 architecture with 7nm lithography, there are four models for the desktop version, namely Ryzen 9 3900, 3900X, 3900XT and 3950X. The last three models mentioned earlier support up to a TDP of 105W, while the Ryzen 9 3900 has a TDP of 65W. These four models do not come with integrated graphics cards, but they have a higher number of cores and threads. . How did it happen? AMD Ryzen 3950X, for example, supports 16 cores and 32 threads. Apart from that, the cache size of L3 is also 64MB which is double that of AMD Ryzen 7 of the same generation. Unfortunately, the 3000 series is not yet available in mobile form. Instead, the new laptop model will be available in the 4000 series in 2020. This processor, named Renoir, is made with TSMC's 7nm process and Zen 2 architecture. There are only two models supported for the laptop part, namely Ryzen 9 4900HS and Ryzen 9 4900H. Both support 8 cores, 16 threads and each with boost clocks up to 4.3 GHz and 4.4 GHz. 

 

For information, one of the first laptops in the world to use the AMD Ryzen 9 4900HS is the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14. Using this laptop for eSports and AAA games or content creation? Obviously, performance is very limited. Another interesting fact is that it is now that desktop PCs do not receive AMD Ryzen 9 in the 4000 series. There are at least four H-series models for laptops, namely the 6900HS, 6900HX, 6980HS, and 6980HX. There is no desktop version for the 6000 series.

 

By using TSMC 6nm manufacturing based on the Zen 3+ architecture, there is an increase in power efficiency. In fact, these models can support extended use of the laptop without a quick battery.

 

Combined with an iGPU based on RDNA2 in the form of the Radeon 680M, it is not surprising that the graphics rendering process is incredible. Then, for the line of workers in 2023, there is the AMD Ryzen 9 7000 series. This time, the 7000 series is here for desktops and laptops at the same time. One of the latest models released in the first quarter of 2023 is the Ryzen 9 7950X3D.

 

This unit is a continuation of the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D which was launched a year earlier. Using 3D V-cache technology and Zen 4 architecture, high performance is inevitable.

 

The processor uses the AM5 socket which should be supported until 2025. The Zen 4 architecture of this system promises an increase in IPS performance of up to 13%. The AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D for desktop is also built with 5nm lithography and supports the best DDR5 memory standard. The highest clock speed is 5.7 GHz with a base clock of 4.2 GHz. Currently, the base configuration has 16 cores and 32 threads. Its performance in games is very high, it is said that it can reach 200 FPS in the game Watch Dogs Legion (with settings Full HD, Ultra, DirectX 12). As for the units shown in the laptop area, there are two different code names, namely Phoenix (based on Zen 4 and RDNA3) and Dragon Range (Zen 4 and RDNA2). Phoenix includes two models, namely AMD Ryzen 9 7940H and 7940HS. Currently, the Dragon Range codename includes AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX and 7845HX.
