AMD Ryzen 7 processor model

 AMD Ryzen 7 processor model

If the Intel camp has the i7 series, then AMD also offers Ryzen 7 in the high-end mid-range section. The presence of Ryzen 7 began in 2017 in the form of 1000 series. Codenamed Summit Ridge, Ryzen 7 supports socket AM4, DDR4-2666 RAM and is built on a 14nm manufacturing base.

AMD Ryzen 7 1800X, 1700X and 1700 performance is really promising. Although the first series, the Ryzen 7 series has 8 cores and 16 threads with a frequency of up to 4.1 GHz.

In the 2000 and 2018 series, the Pinnacle Ridge code was introduced again to meet customers' needs for faster gaming performance while saving power. Still using 14nm manufacturing, the Ryzen 7 2000 series is backwards compatible with previous series as both support AM4 sockets. The series continues with the 3000 series in 2019 under the code names Matisse (Zen 2) for the desktop version and Picasso (Zen +) for the laptop version. The most powerful runner of the 3000 series is the Ryzen 7 3800XT which supports a TDP of up to 105W, followed by the 3800X with a TDP of 65W. Both have an octa-core processor coupled with 16 threads.

Laptop users will also find the strong performance of the AMD Ryzen 7 3000 series in several models, namely the 3700U, 3700C for Chromebooks, 3750H and 3780U. These models under the support of Picasso can play many popular games well, while they use iGPU RX Vega 10 or Vega 11 (3780U).

A year later (in 2020), Renoir based Zen 2 for desktop was released. This Renoir is part of the 4000 series, which has two models that have seen an increase in overall performance, namely the Ryzen 7 4700G and 4700GE. Both models use TSMC's 7nm process, support PCI3 3.0 lanes and DDR4-3200 RAM in dual-channel mode. In addition to desktop computers, versions for mobile devices are also available. That is, starting from the lowest model 4700U to the highest model 4800H. These laptop models are based on the company's Zen 2, called Renoir, including the fifth generation GCN iGPU and LPDDR4-4266 support.

Like Ryzen 3 and 5 parts, Ryzen 7 will be relaunched in 2021 (5000 series). For laptops, this series is called Lucienne, Cezanne and Barcelo. While the Lucienne is based on the Zen 2 construction, the Cezanne (for the 2021 model) and the Barcelo (2022 model) use the Zen 3 construction. The model added under the Lucienne code is the Ryzen 7 5700U. Meanwhile, for the other codes, the most released models are Ryzen 7 5800U, 5825U, 5800HS, and 5800H. On average, this computer system uses 8 cores and 16 threads.

Based on Zen 3, the processor has a 19% increase in IPC compared to Zen 2. Laptops that use the AMD Ryzen 7 5000 series are very comfortable to play popular games like Cyberpunk 2077 even without a dedicated graphics card.

For example, on AMD Ryzen 7 5800U, the game Cyberpunk 2077 can be stable at 40 FPS and above. If you want to get a simple and thin gaming laptop without the presence of special VGA, users will be interested in the performance of the Ryzen 7 5800U.

After becoming the fastest processor in 2021, the next generation will be released in 2022 as the Ryzen 7 6000 series. There is an architectural upgrade in the Zen 3+, which is made on TSMC's 6nm manufacturing process and is one of the first to achieve a 5GHz clock speed.

In terms of processing power, it has been increased by 1.3 times, and the graphics has doubled compared to the AMD Ryzen 5000 series. AMD also claims that the single-threaded performance increase is up to 11% and the multi-threaded performance increase is higher . up to 28%. Then 2022 will be the time for the release of the next generation, which is called the AMD Ryzen 7 7000 series. Really faster and more effective than before. However, this system has its own disadvantages, namely the use of the new AM5 socket, so it is not compatible with the old grandmother.

The AMD Ryzen 7 7000 series works on TSMC's 5nm process and is based on the Zen 4 architecture. All processors in this series support DDR5-5200, PCI3 5.0 RAM and RDNA2-based graphics.

One of the latest CPU models in April 2023 is the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, which has good value for money compared to its rivals. In fact, AMD Ryzen 7 is in the same target market segment as Intel Core i7. But it is clear that the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D can beat its rivals in the most expensive segment, namely the Intel Core i9 13900K. According to wccftech.com, AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D is even the best-selling processor in Germany. The reason is that it is priced $100 cheaper than the Intel Core i9 13900K even though it offers better performance.
